LIMINUS was an experimental pervasive performance blending theatrical storytelling with locative augmented reality technologies. Powered by Motive.io, the experience was built around a mobile application that guided audiences through a narrative layered over the built environment and spanning all of downtown Boston. Geofencing and rule-based logic engines created branching story arcs based on an audience member’s real-world decisions, ultimately leading them to sites with intimate live performances within the world of the show.
